War on Drugs means pot farmers are flying high
Perhaps now is the time for us to begin the “War on Kindness” or the “War on Cute Little Puppies” or perhaps even, the “War on Delicious Chocolate Chip Cookies.”
Because, it’s now obvious that whenever U.S. declares war on an intangible object, we get more and more of said object. Because as the “War on Terrorism” has given us more terrorists, the “War on Drugs” has given us more drugs.
After years of diligent work by the U.S. government to eradicate drugs, the No. 1 cash crop in America is … wait for it … Marijuana.
From the L.A. Times:
For years, activists in the marijuana legalization movement have claimed that cannabis is America’s biggest cash crop. Now they’re citing government statistics to prove it.
A report released today by a marijuana public policy analyst contends that the market value of pot produced in the U.S. exceeds $35 billion — far more than the crop value of such heartland staples as corn, soybeans and hay, which are the top three legal cash crops.
California is responsible for more than a third of the cannabis harvest, with an estimated production of $13.8 billion that exceeds the value of the state’s grapes, vegetables and hay combined — and marijuana is the top cash crop in a dozen states, the report states.
The report estimates that marijuana production has increased tenfold in the past quarter century despite an exhaustive anti-drug effort by law enforcement.
This all may or may not explain why the U.S. as a whole seems to have a huge case of the munchies.
So, what have we learned from all this? Well, if you want an excess of something, have the U.S. declare War on it. I propose we begin the “War on Education” immediately.

Agreed. Can we add the War on Common Sense, the War on Renewable Energy Research, and the War on Science in General to the list? We could certainly use more of all those as well.

So where does that put us with the War on Christmas?

So where does that put us with the War on Christmas?
With all this pot around, I’m afraid the War on Christmas and War on Easter will never really take off.
I mean, seriously, the desserts? Christmas cookies? Peeps, for god’s sake! Peeps!
These Christian holidays are just way too good for stoners to bitch about.

Besides, that war is being waged by liberals, not the government, remember? Oh Really ought to encourage Dubya to send a bunker buster at the North Pole or something.

I like the last sentence with the link to our country’s obesity probs.
Anyway, marijuana is not a drug. It is a completely natural plant, grown and smoked for medicinal purposes and recreational use.
If the government would legalize ONLY marijuana, then they could tax it, and sell it, just like cigarettes.
One of the big reasons why people do illegal things is because they are illegal. People like it when they show up the law, and legalizing pot would not raise the amount of smokers by very much.
Plus, if they legalized it, the gov. would make so much more money and use the money that they wouldn’t be spending on the “war on drugs” plus all the taxes they would make off of it, on something better like education or national health care. Which brings up another point but i’m not going to get into that.

yah i agree with some of thos stuff but the real thing is that no one ever got in a wreck because they where to high to drive or something only alchohol does that to people and weed wasn’t made illegal until after the prohebition on alchohol

oh come now, you know damn well if the government legalized weed, they would take that money to buy a shitload of cocaine, import it through the cocaine import agency (CIA), import it to black ghettos and foreign countries like mexico, and get even more money, then buy a shitload of weapons with that money and give them to muslim extremists in the middle east who they would also train once armed, who would promise to fight bin laden, but would take the guns and in turn fight israel instead of bin laden, then the united states would use the rest of the money covering up their big fuck up. then they would need more money so they would start adding nicotine to the legal weed, and make pot growing illegal so you had to smoke their shitty chemical weed, and restart the whole process fucking everything up like they always do. i rather it decriminalized so atleast i can make money off it, not the mafia style government. government spending drug money on education…HAH!

[…] Sure, there are more pressing issues out there, but Barney Frank and Ron Paul’s proposal to decriminalize marijuana possession is still worthy of applause. Sadly, common sense has no shot and theres no way in hell this will pass, especially with an election on the horizon. Still nice to see Frank and Paul put it out there, though. Legislators aim to snuff out penalties for pot use […]
