Let me be that naive third-grader again
I want to be that naive third-grader again. The one that proudly stood up in class and recited the Pledge of Allegiance with everyone. The one who couldn’t get enough of hearing that the United States was the greatest nation on Earth.
I want to be agog again at George Washington’s masterful moves in the Revolutionary War. I want to continue to think of the U.S. Constitution as the greatest document in the world, rather than hear so-called “patriots” moronically slam it as a “suicide pact” while trying to destroy it.
I want to continue to think I was from a nation that made the world better, rather than a nation that only cared about staying on top. I want to come from the Greatest nation on Earth, not just the strongest.
I want to be from a nation run by real men with vision, knowledge and thoughtfulness, rather than by businessmen willing to sell out everything to make themselves more wealthy.
I want the blood of millions off my hands. I want to be naive again.
