I think the origin comes from Johnathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal," which was a proposal to stop the poverty in 18th century Ireland (mostly Catholic at the time, Protestants were still a minority) by having the beggar women sell their children for 10 or so shillings to the wealthier English society as food. It was a rather interesting piece, but it is a dark satire aimed at correcting a situation with ridicule and sarcasm.

My grandmother was asked at then her young future sister in-law, if it was true that Catholics eat their babies, because she was Catholic. My grandmother, relieved that someone actually spoke to her besides my grandfather, laughed and said, "No."

Besides, if Catholics ate their babies, that would go against their general pro-life stance. Remember, thou shalt not kill?

So where is your evidence that Catholics eat babies? I don't think you have any evidence and you don't know what you are talking about. You obviously hate Catholics and this comment sounds very immature/childish.

[...] Phillip Barron: Over at Shakesville, we discover the existence of Cathoogle, a search engine for good Catholics. And while Catholic Enemy No. 1 Melissa McEwan is a non-person there, I’m quite happy to report that I have not been Cathoogle-tied. This shows up on the first page of a vanity search.
