Paul Wolfowitz continues to humiliate the U.S.

The great neocon thinker Paul Wolfowitz, who helped design a quagmire in Iraq for the U.S., has helped the United States lose a great deal of its standing in the world. Now, by not resigning from the World Bank, he brings the nation added humiliation and embarrassment with each passing minute.

Having been rewarded for helping to master plan the Iraq debacle with a job as President of the World Bank. A controversial choice to begin with, Wolfowitz began treating the World Bank as his ilk treat the U.S. government – as a piggybank.

By promoting and giving raises to his girlfriend at the World Bank, Wolfowitz vaulted over the line of ethical behavior. That he has steadfastly held on to his job until now just helps driv home the ultimate American stereotypes – we are stubborn, dangerous and refuse to ever admit wrongdoing.

With his aides resigning and the World Bank discussing whether or not the U.S. should still be allowed to nominate the president of the entity, Wolfowitz holds on mightily to his job with the same force of will he used to get bombs dropping in Baghdad.

As each minute passes, America’s reputation is further besmirched by Wolfowitz, who seems unable or unwilling to grasp the concept that ethics matter to some. How long will he hold out? He hopefully won’t last the day. In the end, however, he won’t quit for the benefit of the U.S. His ilk only care about how things affect themselves.
