Three cheers for future NHL star Tim Wallace
June 11, 2007 by William K. Wolfrum
I met Tim Wallace a few times years ago in Anchorage, Alaska. He’s the nephew of a close friend of mine and was about 9 or so when I met him. Now, after a hockey career that saw him star at the University of Notre Dame, Wallace is on the move toward the NHL.
Tim Wallace signed to two-year NHL deal
The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed right wing Tim Wallace to a two-year, NHL entry level contract, it was announced on Tuesday.
Wallace, 22, split the past season between the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL) and Wheeling Nailers (ECHL). The Anchorage, Alaska native recorded 14 points (5+9) in 32 games with the Penguins and 17 points (6+11) in 19 games with the Nailers.
Wallace also appeared in 11 postseason games with the Penguins, recording two points (1+1) and two penalty minutes.
Originally signed by the AHL Penguins as a free agent on October 6, 2006, Wallace played four seasons with the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish, recording 59 points (25+34) in 153 career games.
Congratulations, Timmy. Can’t wait to see you on the same line as Sidney Crosby.
