Mitt Romney: PETA doesn’t like me, therefore it’s fine that I abuse dogs

Mitt Romney: Confessions of a dog torturer:

“You know, PETA has not been my fan over the years,” Romney said. “PETA has been after me for having a rodeo at the Olympics and were very, very upset about that. PETA was after me when I went quail hunting in Georgia. And PETA is not happy that my dog likes fresh air.”

I’ll give Romney this - he’s no Michael Vick. But one would imagine a Presidential candidate might want to aim a little higher.

Romney can try and slough off this story all he wants, but here’s the truth - A vote for Mitt Romney is a vote for animal abuse.

I have picked Romney to win the Republican nomination. He has not disappointed me yet. This little PETA demagoguery plays well with his base, since PETA is viewed as leftist and are very unpopular among ‘servatives’. Also, you really don’t lose much with mainstream either with this statement as most people range from oblivious to PETA to having a negative opinion of them.

He strapped his dog to the luggage rack of his vehicle and drove for hours before stopping. This goes beyond PETA. It connects with every normal, sensible American out there. It’s interesting that he claims to have gone quail hunting, right now I’m thinking Dan Quayle was a lot smarter than this guy.

I don’t know guys. Personally I would not transport an animal like that, but I don’t see any real difference from what Romney did and the dog boxes I see attached to the back of pickup trucks.

And the dog was in a carrier and shielded from the wind from what I understand.

Look, don’t mess up my forecast that Romney will win the Republican nomination. It would damage my fragile ego.

[…] Romney, back in his strapping-dog-to-the-roof-of-his-car days: As governor, Romney twice rejected a pardon for Anthony Circosta, who at age 13 was convicted of assault for shooting another boy in the arm with a BB gun - a shot that didn’t break the skin. Circosta worked his way through college, joined the Army National Guard and led a platoon of 20 soldiers in Iraq’s deadly Sunni triangle. […]
