“The Fourth Amendment has served this nation well for 220 years”
“It is critical that we, as a democratic nation, pay close attention to traditional Fourth Amendment principles. The Fourth Amendment has served this nation well for 220 years, through many other perils.”
– Judge Ann Aiken of the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon in her 44-page decision which ruled two provisions of the Patriot Act unconstitutional.

I believe the late blog spook wonder cow made a post about the 4th amendment and this administration’s determination to “interpret” it into oblivion.
“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”
That passage can mean so much, when you really don’t give a shit and have no integrity or moral values. Otherwise it would mean:
“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”
Which is just too inconvenient and stifling. Don’t try to keep me down with all of your rules and bureaucratic nonsense, maaaaan.
^^Only words. The letters can be rearranged to say anything.
