Fuck the Olympics
August 6, 2008 by William K. Wolfrum
This week, corporations, politicians and athletes from around the globe are getting together to congratulate the Chinese government for being twisted murderers. In honor of all those supporting China and it’s hatred of human rights, let me just say this:
Fuck the Olympics.
Fuck the Chinese Government.
Fuck George W. Bush for attending and supporting the murderous Chinese government.
Fuck sportswriters who think holding the Olympics in a totalitarian nation makes it more interesting.
Fuck China’s Nazi-esque obsession with winning gold medals.
Fuck China for refusing a visa to an outspoken U.S. gold medallist.
Fuck Coca-Cola, GE, Johnson & Johnson, Kodak, Atos Origin, Lenovo, McDonalds, Manulife, Omega, Panasonic, Visa, Samsung, Omega, UPS, Haier, Budweiser, adidas, Staples and all the other soul-less corporations sponsoring this phony festival in a nation that murders more of its own citizens than anywhere else.
The “Olympic Movement” is a sham and the next three weeks in Beijing will be little more than a long commercial with athletes in it.
Fuck the Olympics.

Here’s a coke. Here’s the grave of a dead student who peacefully protested in Tiananmen Square.
Here’s a Big Mac. Here’s millions of peasant farmers one drought away from starvation.
Here’s a Kodak Camera. Here’s a genocide in Darfur.
Here’s a Visa card. Here’s a brutal crackdown in Tibet.
China is the enemy of the world!Kick china out of the world!
There’s no mystery here. Don’t you think the providers of legalized torture, genocide in Iraq, and historically
will give a damn about the horrors of Tienanmen square. This isn’t just about China the Olympics are about everything being right with capitalism globally, the annual toll of tens of millions dead from hunger hunger related disease war and lack of available medicine no longer exist as we march together in the spirit of sportsmanlike ignorance.
Lets face it the Olympics have always been a tribute to historic memory loss.
> Lets face it the Olympics have always been a tribute to historic memory loss.
I agree. But let’s not forget that Carter made a stand. And let’s not forget the handful of athletes over the years that used the Olympics as an opportunity to speak out.
The thing that gripes my ass about it, is how the commercial interests have come to dominate the Olympics so completely that it’s no longer simply a matter of setting aside international conflicts for a short time, but more about ignoring all the problems so we can sell people Cokes and hook them on Visa Cards.
[...] It was kind of hard to escape my opinion on the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. It was terribly unsettling to see how the corporate world could care less about anything a nation does so long as they have open markets. And while I didn’t believe the athletes should have boycotted, I was yet again struck with how the vast majority of modern-day athletes completely refuse to get involved in any type political activism. The days of Tommie Smith and Juan Carlos are gone, and we were left with China being able to ban Joey Cheeks from the games for having strong convictions, with few making much a fuss of it. If there were 100 athletes that protested China’s enabling of the Sudanese government or its human rights violations, China wouldn’t have been able to ban them all. [...]
I’m sorry this has to be my first comment on your site WKW … but I’m pretty steamed about this post.
The US has absolutely no moral authority in this matter … and when I say the US … I mean the country and all of its citizens. The US executes people … so if you’re gonna count bodies as a form of righteousness … then I’ll have to call bullshit.
And while we’re counting bodies … what about the hundreds of thousands of people that the US killed in Iraq? Do they not count? Because I gotta say … I think they do count … particularly considering that they were killed to the amazingly insane chants of USA! USA! by the population. Yes, I’d go so far as to say … on the moral authority front … its China that should have boycotted the US. Cause, if you can explain to me how executing an innocent person … is somehow more egregious than collateral damage … then I’m all ears!
Oh, and lets not forget the violations of workers rights and dangerous working conditions of the poor Chinese peasant folk in US sweat shops … or do their deaths not count because they result in the ability to by a pair of sneakers for $5?
China executes people for advocating for civil social and political change .. thats pretty harsh … but then … if I recall … the US bombed a fucking hotel full of journalists. Or outright executed press members. The US routinely squelches dissent. With murder, prison and fear tactics every bit as worthy of the “Nazi-like” moniker.
So I’d have to say … Fuck your opinion on Fuck the Olympics!
[Dom Irrera voice] No offense!
