Joe Biden’s problem is that no one has labeled him a maverick. In order to be a maverick people have to spin you into one.
It’s kind of like the end of the Wizard of Oz when we find out that the scarecrow was already smart but just needed a degree. Joe Biden’s Mavericknesh can only come to fruition if some campaign strategist somewhere runs an add saying that he is one, and if Wolf Blitzer picks up on it and starts asking: “Is Joe Biden a Maverick? Some say he is, others say that there is only enough room in this election for two mavericks. Does John Cafferty have a permanent stick up his ass? Some say he does, other say he has good reason to have a stick up his ass. We’ll ask him in just a moment. You’re in the situation room.”
