St. Louis Blues goalie injured after tripping on Palin’s red carpet; experts call Missouri for Obama

October 25, 2008 by William K. Wolfrum

The Permanent Republican Majority never took John McCain and Sarah Palin into account. In her latest adventure, Palin dropped the puck at a game between the St. Louis Blues and Los Angeles Kings – and the Blues starting goalie injured himself on the carpet runway they laid out for Palin and family to walk on the ice:

From the Associated Press:

“Legace injured after tripping over the carpet for VP candidate Palin”

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Blues goalie Manny Legace left after one period Friday night with a hip injury that occurred when he slipped on the carpet placed on the ice for Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

The Alaska governor dropped the ceremonial first puck before the Blues hosted the Los Angeles Kings. A narrow carpet walkway was placed from the gate at the Blues bench to center ice for Palin, her husband and two of her daughters.

To be fair, Legace’s injury is by no means the fault of Palin. But sports fans aren’t really known for their sense of fairness when it comes to things like this. Move Missouri to the “Definitely Obama” category.

I was reading the cup of the soy chai latte I bought at Starbucks this morning (cuz I read, ya know, a wide variety of drinking vessels … all of ‘em, really … whatever’s in front of my, you betcha) and I read a quote that I thought would really speak to the real, good, real good pro-America people that populate our small-town, family-owned businesses like Starbucks. And I’d like to share that quote with you all today, [wink!]:

“There’s a special place in hell reserved for women who drag their children and their pregnant daughter’s high-school dropout boyfriend around with ‘em as stage props — and there’s an extra-special place in hell for women who bring their elementary-aged daughter with ‘em out onto the ice as a shield against the torrent of boos that she expects to receive, dontcha know.”

Ya know, some people just don’t look at parenthood the same way — and with the same respect — that you and I do, you betcha dontcha know fer sure [wink!]

By the way, I just got a robocall from a McCain operative urging me to look into the rumor that Legace’s “trip” was actually an attempt to knock down a McCain supporter who was standing nearby, & then carve a backwards “B” into the supporter’s face with his skate.

    To be fair

Why would you do a thing like that?

The details don’t matter. All we need are a string of words like:

    Palin, injured, goalie, lose.

Mix ‘em up however you like and create what ever reality serves the agenda. That’s what the Sith Lords in the Republican party do, and you can hardly argue with their past success using such a strategy.
