RIP Madelyn Dunham

For the most part, I’ve never been the type to feel personal sadness when someone I never met passes away. But I admit to feeling a punch in the gut when seeing that Barack Obama’s grandmother Madelyn Dunham died today. A lot has to do with my mother’s two successful battles against cancer. But obviously, another is both for the candidate, and for Dunham not getting to see him in what is most likely to be his finest hour. But she died knowing that she had done an amazing job helping to raise her grandson. She was a very special person, indeed.
