Condoleezza Rice catches Tiger Woods at the Masters
April 14, 2009 by William K. Wolfrum
Condoleezza Rice, who spent the past eight years not catching Osama bin Laden and allowing al Qaeda and the Taliban to strengthen, has been keeping busy since leaving her government job. Last weekend, Rice was at the Masters watching Tiger Woods and then writing about her experience at The Daily Beast:
So when I was able to get tickets for my first Masters, I was really excited. I’ve been to Super Bowls, the Final Four, the U.S. Open Tennis Championships—nothing matched the anticipation of my first Masters.
It’s nice that Rice got to go to Augusta, where she can never be a member because she’s female and they don’t particularly care for African-Americans. Still, here’s hoping Rice continues her new career as a golf ambassador, as she loves Augusta despite its rampant sexism and racism:
Upon arrival, Augusta took my breath away with its physical beauty. It exceeds your expectations. The people are very kind. Clearly, the faces at Augusta are changing as America is changing. But there is a timelessness to it that is very nice. Everything runs on time at Augusta but nothing is hurried..
Unfortunately, Rice couldn’t help herself. Once a diplomat, always a diplomat, after all. So she finished her article with a nice little unprovoked slam on Argentina:
In the end, it was Angel Cabrera and justice for Robert De Vicenzo. It was also a great moment for Argentina—a country with terrible politics and wonderful people.
Please, just stick to golf, Condi.
