GOP gives Democrats massive wooden horse; Dems, Media applaud bipartisanship

WASHINGTON – Republicans shocked their Democratic counterparts today by wheeling a huge wooden horse into Congress. The horse was apparently left as a gift for Democrats, and could signal a truce in the hard-fought battle over health care.

“I think our calls for bi-partisanship have finally been answered,” said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. “We will not look this giant, wooden, heavier-than-it-should-be horse in the mouth.”

Media reaction was mostly positive for the move. At the Washington Post, columnist David Broder hailed the move as “an act of sanity in a world gone mad. Hopefully now we can get back to real issues, like where we should eat.”

At “The Weekly Standard,” Editor William Kristol was similarly pleased: “This is a fantastic move for Sarah Palin.”

Still, some far-left liberals have expressed concern that this might be yet another Republican trick. Reid dismissively waved off the skeptics.

“Stop being such Cassandras,” said Reid. “We Democrats are excited about this gift, and will celebrate this great victory of bi-partisanship.”
