Rick Perry & Texas – The Miracle of Bullshit
August 24, 2011 by William K. Wolfrum
Those that have paid attention the past couple years are well aware that Rick Perry’s work has been focused mainly on smoke and mirrors. Talking Points Memo showcases an interesting graph showing that the lie of the “Texas Miracle” is based solely on government keeping people working:

Of course, while the Texas government was working to keep unemployment under control, the federal government was working to keep Texas from falling into a budgetary nightmare:
Despite being one of the loudest critics of President Obama’s stimulus, Perry used billions of dollars of federal money to patch Texas’ budget shortfalls, and was thus able to create and maintain lots and lots of public sector jobs. In fact, if you look at net job creation between 2007 and 2010, it’s clear the only thing keeping Texas buoyant was government jobs.
All economic deception also serves to hide the fact that:
Texas has the highest number of residents without health insurance in the nation, among the worst-ranked food stamp programs, one of the highest child poverty rates, the lowest percentage of residents with a high school diploma and one of the highest teenage birth rates.
Let’s not even tae into account for now that Perry is a crazed Dominionist who uses God as a political prop. The simple fact is, he’s a pretend conservative and a poor Governor, and no amount of fact spinning will change that.
