Tom Tancredo wants to bomb Mecca, as his 30 supporters are well aware

August 1, 2007 by

Tom Tancredo needs to get some juice behind his campaign. His sole campaign issue - illegal immigration - is currently dead in the water, and no one seemed excited about his plan to spend $200 billion deporting every last illegal and building walls around the U.S.

So what’s a guy from the bomb-making capital of the world (Colorado) to do? Well, bring back his “let’s bomb Mecca” plan. That’ll get him some newsprint, even if most of it’s to deride him. At very least, Bill Kristol will respect him.

‘IowaPolitics.com: Tancredo says threat of attack on holy sites would deter terrorism’

OSCEOLA — Followers of radical Islam must be deterred from committing a nuclear attack on U.S. soil, Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo said Tuesday morning, saying that as president he would take drastic measures to prevent such attacks.

“If it is up to me, we are going to explain that an attack on this homeland of that nature would be followed by an attack on the holy sites in Mecca and Medina,” the GOP presidential candidate said. “That is the only thing I can think of that might deter somebody from doing what they would otherwise do. If I am wrong fine, tell me, and I would be happy to do something else. But you had better find a deterrent or you will find an attack. There is no other way around it. There have to be negative consequences for the actions they take. That’s the most negative I can think of.”

The harsh approach is vital in order to prevent a worldwide collapse, Tancredo told nearly 30 people Tuesday morning at the Family Table restaurant.

Telling “nearly” 30 people at Family Table Restaurant that the best way to fight terrorism is to bomb Mecca - the Tom Tancredo juggernaut is truly rolling now.

[...] When Tom Tancredo stood up in a coffee shop in Iowa and told the two dozen or so collected diners that he believed the U.S. should respond to an attack by Islamic extremists by bombing Mecca, it wasn’t just the surrealistic ramblings of a politician with no concern of human life. It was also a perfect example of just how far American has fallen from the path laid out by the Founding Fathers. [...]

Agreed, the comments DO indicate how far the “bulk” of the nation have strayed from the ideas we held earlier in our history.
But make that 31 supporters. We should have taken this action immediately after 9/11. Loss of life on all sides would have been minimized the $$ cost would have been infintestimal compared to what we’ve done instead. And the message would have been crystal clear. “You guys clean up your act!!”
Unfortunately most “modern” policitians lack the incisive, action oriented mentality of our founding fathers, Tom being perhaps an exception.

    Make that 32 supporters.

If Russia launches nukes on America, what do you think America’s response would be? MAD demands that we launch nukes back at Russia.

Yet, how do we deter “individuals” without ties to any state from nuking us? Tancredo offered up a solution: if a Muslim attacks America, America will attack what all Muslims holds dear.

This is a deterrent not a dream of blowing up the Middle East. If you listen to Tancredo, he’s the least belligerent of the candidates, save Dr. Paul. Dr. Paul has even stated Tancredo is the closest of all running to Dr. Paul’s view.

William S. Lind has written extensively on 4′th generation warfare if you’re interested. I tried posting a link, but it didn’t get through the filter.

Does Bill Wolfrum read these comments? I never see him respond…

I do read the comments, Weaver, but I don’t respond much due to time constraints, plus, I don’t want to spend more time responding to those that disagree with me than those who do agree with me.

I do admit that I should try and respond more, however. But I never censor anyone that disagrees or just feels like calling me an idiot.
